We welcome you to begin your journey into a silent retreat with our ‘experimental silence two day retreat’. This retreat is designed for people who have never experienced a silent retreat before but would like to give it a go.
We welcome you at Grue Demoiselle after lunch on Sunday and give you time to adjust and settle into your surroundings, get to know your fellow guests and have a chat about what to expect over the next two days.
Each day we will begin in silence at breakfast with quiet background music and then meet for meditation, we do not follow specific religious or ideological traditions but simply give you the opportunity to be guided onto your own path and ideas.
Lunch is held in complete silence with no background music.
After lunch each day you will have the opportunity to join in a variety of contemplative activities such as painting, yoga, gardening, walking, cycling, lectures, writing a journal, there is usually something for you whether it be for the first time or if it’s a relaxing hobby you already enjoy. All of the activities are intended to be conducted in silence apart from any instruction required.
All of the above activities are purely optional and if you prefer to take your own space and do your own thing then you are welcome to do so, all we ask is that everyone’s silent journey is respected.
There will be an optional ‘talk and discussion’ time each day, usually for an hour after dinner is served.
