The Caitland Circle

We are very very proud to announce that we now have our very own Standing Stone Circle on site. The stone is Arbroath Sandstone from Scotland and was shipped to France by the well known author Jeremy Moiser (who writes under the name of Julius Falconer). Our sincerest thanks go to Jeremy for his considerable efforts in helping to create this sacred and special place at Grue Demoiselle.

The Circle is named ‘The Caitland Circle’. Caitland is derived from the name Catherine or Kathleen which means Pure. Our personal link to this name is of course, my name, also in memory of my Mother Kathleen, also Jeremy’s late wife also named Catherine, Jeremy's daughter Catherine and to some very happy childhood memories of Jims spent at the Dr Barnardo’s home at Pen Caitland near Edinburgh.

The Circle consists of 15 standing stones and 15 seated stones, aligned to the Polaris star with also the summer solstice setting sun point marked. The centre sphere is named Andromeda as it has 9 stars cut into it and Andromeda means ‘to think of a man’ this balances the very feminine energy of the circle. The Circle was completed on May 1st 2010.

The Grue Demoiselle meditation group dowsed the circle for the positioning of the stones and the event was filled with much laughter, many of you who have experienced a workshop with us will know how important the sound of laughter is to our centre and The Caitland Circle is created in the same spirit. We now believe that Stone Henge was also probably created by a group of ladies after an evening of tea and cake, wandering around with their pendulums and dowsing rods and then setting their Chaps to work the next day. It’s a nice idea is it not?

There is a very strong sense of Family coming from the circle and the first stone placed called its name as the Mother Stone, the second stone placed is the Father stone. Each stone has a piece of tree, sacred to the Celtic traditions placed beneath it, drawing the spirit and energy between the Earth and the Universe.

You are all most welcome to come and spend time at the Stones and I am sure they will be used in many of the workshops. There has already been an indication of their power in fertility and I am sure there will be many more tales of their power. Graphically we are part of a circle of significant stones and sites in the area and so energetically we are tapped into a greater picture than can be seen from the ground here.
